Uber Passenger Fatality Following Rear End Collision
Houston, TX – Uber/Ride-Share Wreck – In the early hours of Saturday, November 20, 2021, a young woman was killed on the Southwest Freeway when the Uber vehicle she was riding in was hit from behind by a truck.
M. Holley, an Uber customer, was riding as a rear passenger in a Mitsubishi Lancer under the operation of an Uber driver when the vehicle began to experience mechanical problems. Due to the mechanical problems, the vehicle stopped on the freeway in a moving lane of traffic on the Southwest Freeway. While stopped on the freeway, the vehicle was struck from the rear by a truck resulting in M. Holley’s death and significant injury to the Uber driver. News reports state that the 30-year-old driver of the truck was not injured and stayed at the scene following the horrific collision. The truck driver was not charged following the collision.
